Our New Favorite Game

Emmett and I learned how to play "Set" while on our mini-vacation, then we came home and taught Jason. It takes about a minute to learn, but a bit longer to master.

Mother-Son Vacation

Simeon came down with a cold at the last minute, so Emmett and I took our "family" vacation alone. We started our trip with a quick stop at the Rainforest Cafe for lunch.

Next stop, the Great Wolf Lodge.

Tired from a full day, but still wearing his wolf ears.

My FAVORITE Potty Training Seat!!!

This seat has a high back for support, a large splash guard for protection, and it is cushy for comfort. We've tried a lot of potty seats and this one is the absolute best.

The Simeon Shuffle

It has been difficult to entice Simeon to let go to walk on his own, but he wanted the phone so badly, he was willing to give it a go...multiple times.

Congratulations, Emmett!

Emmett earned second place in his Gung Fu's jump-kick competition! He kicked 5'2" high, which is 10 3/4" more than his height! The competition was between all the students enrolled, not just the ones in his particular class.

Sifu will be awarding him his prize (a martial arts weapon of some sort) in the next week or so.

Overnight Maple French Toast

For Father's Day Breakfast (2010), Emmett and I tried this new recipe from babycenter.com. It turned out beautifully,

Heat 2/3 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup, and 1 Tbsp butter over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil for one minute. Pour into a 9 x 13 that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.

Layer 1-inch slices of bread on top of the mixture.

Combine 4 eggs, 1 + 1/2 cups milk, pinch of salt, and 1 tsp vanilla. Pour over the bread.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Uncover and bake at 350 until slices are lightly browned. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Here's a picture from Father's Day 2013.
