Emmett Takes 3rd Place in His First Spelling Bee

It took a lot of convincing to get Emmett to participate in the spelling bee. We bribed him with "lunch out anywhere you want to go", and so he agreed to let me sign him up.

No backing out now. :) He is all signed up and ready to go.

There were 9 participants in the 2nd and 3rd grade group. As each one dropped out and Emmett got word after word correct, we were on the edge of our seats!!!

3rd place! He was so excited that he has already talked about going back to do it again next year. And, as his reward for good sportsmanship, lunch at Denny's -- his choice.

What We Are Up To These Days

Jason: He has been taking duck hunting seriously this season and has found some new locations that are fairly local. He has also returned back to work after a long Christmas break at home -- we are going to miss having him around every day!

Emmett: He will be in his first spelling bee on January 19th and he is returning to gymnastics on January 7th after a 2-month recess. He is such a fantastic help to us around the house and with Simeon.

Simeon: He is growing up so quickly -- he is already in 6-month clothes! He is also a very happy and engaging fellow. His favorite game is "stand up - sit down" --> he actually recognizes the words and is extremely pleased with himself as he works on the game's commands.

Me: Now that baby is sleeping well, I have insomnia. I wake up for Simeon's feeding and can't get back to sleep. Starting my day at 1 AM is quite miserable, I must say. Also, I am having a biopsy done on a breast lump on January 8th and am feeling a bit nervous.
